⚠️ SERIOUS PRESCRIPTION ERROR – PLEASE READ BEFORE CHOOSING THIS VET I am leaving this review because I believe other pet owners have the right to know what happened to my dog, Freddie. Abington Park Vets have admitted in writing that they made repeated prescription and dispensing errors involving Freddie. Freddie was correctly prescribed Bravecto and Milbemax, but instead he was repeatedly given Advocate and Milbemax. The practice has admitted that the first error occurred in November 2023, when a member of the reception team incorrectly replaced Bravecto with Advocate without checking with a vet or updating the prescription. This was not a one-off mistake. The practice states that correct prescriptions were subsequently entered in February 2024, June 2024, November 2024 and January 2025, yet there were SIX occasions where those prescriptions were ignored and different products were dispensed. So, over a period of roughly two years, my dog was repeatedly being given medication that did not match his correct prescription. The practice also admitted that Advocate and Milbemax are not recommended to be used concurrently because they contain the same class of drug. That is extremely concerning to me as a dog owner. One of the staff members involved also acknowledged that the medication previously dispensed was incorrect and that it should have been identified and corrected. Following my complaint, the practice introduced new procedures and retrained staff, including a requirement that medications only be dispensed where there is an active prescription and that a vet must be consulted when an alternative medication is requested. Freddie also experienced health problems during this period, including itching/skin irritation, anal gland problems and gastrointestinal symptoms. The practice has said that they do not believe the medication error was responsible for all of these symptoms and have suggested an underlying allergic condition as a possible explanation. I am not claiming that the medication error definitely caused every one of Freddie's symptoms, because I cannot medically prove that. What I can say, based on the practice's own written admission, is that Freddie was repeatedly given medication that was not what had been correctly prescribed for him, on six documented occasions, over an extended period. The fact that the practice subsequently changed its procedures and retrained staff following my complaint speaks for itself. I trusted the professionals caring for my dog to follow his prescriptions correctly. That trust was broken. I am sharing this review because I would want to know about something like this if it had happened to someone else's dog. I have retained the written correspondence from the practice confirming the errors and the actions they took afterwards. Please do your own research and make your own informed decision about where you choose to take your pets. 🐾 Freddie deserved to have his prescriptions followed correctly.

The vet was extremely friendly and put our dog at ease. She gave her a thorough examination and what the possible diagnosis was. Medication was explained fully and also the costs involved. Very good service.

My dog fell ill quickly with a very nasty diarrhoea bug, he was quickly seen and looked after he didn’t have unnecessary interventions. The vet was professional and thorough, showing a lot of compassion. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Although we had to unfortunatley take our puppy in for surgery, every one of the staff memebers was warm and very freindly throughout the whole process, cannot thank them enough for making us feel a little bit more at ease knowing hes in safe hands
