A friendly and skilled veterinary practice who unfortunately lost my trust over the years. I often came away feeling manipulated - my gut telling me something wasn't right. While I believe their skills and knowledge to be strong, I've experienced predatory and exploitative business practices, so I now avoid using them unless I'm really sure I have to. Over the years, I noticed a pattern: quotes being increased for "one extra test," "one extra pill," or "one extra appointment." I started to ask for potential extras to be discussed and included upfront, and to be called before performing unquoted treatment, but I’d still find unexpected £30 additions to my bill - even for things I’d already requested be part of the quote. I would then have to fight for them to be removed. The pattern started to feel like a standard practice to incrementally raise costs, despite my requests for transparency. On a few occasions, the agreed treatment changed on the day I brought my pet in. I was put on the spot: either agree to the more expensive treatment or take my pet home untreated, as they’d suddenly decided on a different approach than what was originally planned. On one occasion they had discovered the quote to be 'incorrect', on another the price to have increased in the system between the time of the quote and the treatment. With some of the consultations I paid for, I later discovered that the person I had seen was not a vet - despite asking to see one when I booked. I also noticed a pattern: at each visit, I would be presented with worst-case scenarios and recomendations for "just in case" treatments or tests . With hindsight, none of the 'just in case' options were needed but definitely 'felt' necessary when they were being offered. Then there was the time it was implied I should either pay £5k for surgery or opt for euthanasia, only to discover euthanasia was no longer necessary when I did opt for it. "The surgeon has taken another look at the x-rays and now feels ..." In fact, I can't remember a single time when I didn't experience something like this - an upsell, an unexpected extra, something life threatening turning out to be something common that didn't require vet treatment. Maybe I was just unlucky, As I said, they're knowedgable and skilled, friendly and compassionate. But when you hear things like 'we can't give you the test results until we run an extra test to determine what the first test result means', it just smells off. Like when they prescribe the pet equivalent of calpol, at a 600% markup, on what feels like every consultation, 'just in case'. Sadly, this practice's pattern of behaviour over the years, and the americanisation of the profession as a whole, has left me vowing to never own a pet again. I now feel it exposes me to too much emotional and financial abuse. But I do like the staff here. They're compassionate, and did take the time to discuss my concerns with me. I still visit on occaision, when I absolutely have to. Cautiously, of course. They still pester me from time to time to invite my pets in for a 'just in case' check-up - an annual this or that, etc. - which I now view as cold calling, and not a medical necessity, so happily ignore. And my pets are doing just fine.

We are incredibly grateful to the entire team at this veterinary clinic. They were truly wonderful to us when our beloved dog Maya was passing away. They gave us the time and space we needed to say our final goodbyes, and created the most peaceful and compassionate environment so she could leave us while resting in our arms. The whole procedure was carried out with exceptional empathy, understanding and support. A week later, we received a beautiful gift in the post – her paw prints – along with a heartfelt card signed by the whole team. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and for taking such gentle care of our precious girl.
