Towcester Equine Vets is an equine-focused practice that also functions as a veterinary nurse training facility. Based on reviews, they appear set up for on-yard visits and urgent call-outs: one owner reports the team came out within an hour even though they weren’t registered and helped get an 8‑year‑old Shire “back on his feet.” Colic care is specifically mentioned (a Sunday-morning visit described as calm and reassuring, with the horse “sorted… right out”). Longer-term clients also describe practical communication habits such as giving accurate arrival times and calling if delayed, and taking time to explain what’s wrong and how a treatment plan is likely to progress.
Feedback is mixed in a few areas: there are complaints about bills/drug mark-ups, one report of a vet being rude during a visit-location/address mix-up, and separate reviews alleging dangerous driving by a practice vehicle.
Google rating: 4.4 stars from 20 reviews.

Hope they are better at horse care than driving. Just had to do a very sharp emergency stop to avoid a crash with one of their vans. He cut across 3 lanes to exact the wrong lane on a roundabout. Then sped up A5 at over 100mph. At the light he was happy to just give me the finger. Hope they have trackers on their vehicles as this idiot should not be on the road or near animals

I highly recommend Towcester/Onley vets, all the staff are very professional and easy to approach. I have used their services for over four years now and would always review them 10/10. Easy and flexible to book appointments, will go out of their way for routine checks by providing zone visits (Free call outs!) and always there to call if you ever need advise. Thank you!

They have looked after my horses for over 25 years and have always been tremendous. Calm and supportive when a horse is injured and you are terrified that you might lose your precious friend and happy to perform miracles in terms of saving an animal other's might not try to save. When it came to saying goodbye to my first horse Andy made it possible for me to make the right decision and organised everything for me. I have now bought my own yard and they are the only vets who always give an accurate time for a visit and telephone to let you know if they are delayed. I try to get all of my clients to switch to them and would recommend them to anyone. If you want 5 star care whether you have a rescue pony which is retired or a competition horse which is worth a fortune your can trust Towcester Equine Vets to look after them. I have first hand experience of both and they are always concerned to give the best treatment to the horse and a friendly, approachable service to the owner. The time and care they give to explaining what is wrong with your horse and how the treatment plan is likely to progress makes them stand head and shoulders above all other practices.
