Unfortunately towcester vets were unable to detect an abscess. Between July and November I attended several times. Within the first two visits, no diagnosis was given and I was told to just keep an eye on my dog, on around the third or fourth visit a muscular injury was diagnosed where I was referred to a physio. After several weeks of a physio therapist poking around on my dogs abscess and leaving it to grow even larger with the belief that it was a muscular injury my dog developed a skin infection from constantly licking due to pain. I was then prescribed what was later described by another vet at the practice to be a ridiculously high dose of steroids and to discontinue them immediately. The up shot of it all was, I eventually had a referral to the neurology department of willows vet hospital, who then passed me over to their soft tissue department. Within 10 minutes of looking at my dog they identified that no muscular pain was present and the pain was likely the cause of an abscess. They found a tracking abscess from his stomach to his back, the one in his stomach grew to the size of a golf ball, the one on his back grew to the size of my hand. Ultimately I have paid towcester vets around £900 for medicine that my dog shouldn't be taking, an incorrect diagnosis and two referrals to the wrong people. I am lucky that my dog isn't in a grave. I have written to towcester vets explaining that I feel the referral should have come much sooner, however have not had a reply. *Update after noticing my review had been taken down. Around a year after leaving Towcester vets I received bailif warnings if I didn't pay around £800 in insurance excess charges for medication that I had paid for outside of my insurance claim (which was managed via continuation forms anyway). I threatened legal action, pointing out that they had been double dipping on my insurance (probably why it took so long to get a referral). They then stopped sending me letters and said they'd drop it as "good will". Terrible company.
